I-65 Johnson County Added Travel Lanes Design-Build

Johnson County, Indiana

The scope of this project involved complete reconstruction of existing travel lanes as well as addition of a third travel lane over an 11-mile stretch of I-65. This project also included complete reconstruction of two bridge structures, four bridge deck replacements with structure widening, two bridge deck overlays, signage, lighting, pavement markings, and traffic signal construction. The bridge reconstructions included twin bulb-T beam bridges on I-65 over Main Street and twin bulb-T beam bridges on I-65 over Hurricane Creek. The two bridges that were widened included the twin steel beam bridges on I-65 over SR 44. American Structurepoint led a team of consultants performing construction inspection duties on the project. The project leadership reports directly to the INDOT Seymour District area engineer. Work was performed through a project-specific construction inspection contract with INDOT’s Central Office. Construction costs were $84 million (Contract R-37096).
