As project lead, Derek manages the design process from start to finish, managing team personnel to keep projects on schedule; coordinating the project with other disciplines; managing the budget through design, project specification writing and coordination, and construction administration; and ensuring the project scope remains on track. His investigative skills include consulting with various insurance-related projects, including but not limited to: roof inspections, tornado damage assessments, and precast concrete structure assessments.     A senior structural engineer with two decades of experience, Stephen is well-versed in the often-complex design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures along with foundations that involve caissons, mats, spread footings, and retaining walls associated with facilities. Stephen has specialized experience in both new construction and renovation projects servicing a multitude of industries including, medical, hospitality, commercial, automotive, light and heavy industrial, and institutional, Stephen’s responsibilities include providing technical guidance and direction to team and group leaders within the Investigative Group. Stephen’s technical capabilities include a strong background in structural code understanding; fluency in structural design software packages such as RAM Structural System, and RISA Suite; and proficient use of Revit and AutoCAD.

    As a native Tennessean who lives just 1,000 feet from where he grew up, community involvement and outreach are especially important to Stephen. He maintains an ongoing relationship with his alma mater, Tennessee Tech University, where he serves as a mentor and advisor for the school’s Civil Engineering Senior Design Program. Tennessee Tech was instrumental in defining Stephen’s professional path. To pay it forward, he supports students similarly by providing them opportunities to learn outside of the academic set courses so they can enter the workplace with real-world experience in their tool belt.
