Rising Sun Wastewater Treatment Plant

This project included expansion of the existing 0.36-MGD facility to 0.6-MGD average capacity and hydraulic capacity of 3.5 MGD. Preliminary design included preparation of material mass balances, hydraulic profiles, structure configuration and geometry, and equipment performance specifications to enable the development of a project budget. Final design and construction consisted of a submersible pump station, 2-mm bandscreen with a screenings washer/compactor and vortex grit chamber in the headworks, followed by sequencing batch reactors for biological treatment and ultraviolet disinfection before discharge to the Ohio River.
