Indian Creek Wellfield Expansion
Lawrence, Indiana
Due to significant decline in production capacity of an existing production well, Lawrence Utilities determined a new well was required to meet existing and future system demands. This project included site approval, design, and permitting for a new 16-inch production well, as well as preparation of documentation to publically bid the construction.
Due to significant decline in production capacity of an existing production well, Lawrence Utilities determined a new well was required to meet existing and future system demands. This project included site approval, design, and permitting for a new 16-inch production well, as well as preparation of documentation to publically bid the construction. Project permitting included well site approval and construction permits through IDEM, as well as Construction in a Floodway permits through IDNR. A key aspect of the well design was identification of the well location to minimize the potential for classification of the well as "under the direct influence of surface water," as the wellfield property is located immediately adjacent to Fall Creek. The design also took into account a recurring problem with bio-fouling in the wellfield, which in the past has required frequent well rehabilitation and premature abandonment of wells.
