Downtown Indianapolis Healthcare Campus

This project follows the campus master planning efforts American Structurepoint completed in 2020, and it includes significant utility relocation work to enable construction of a new $2.3 billion hospital in downtown Indianapolis.

To launch the 44-acre healthcare development into motion, eight utilities required relocation, including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, drinking water, chilled water, steam, natural gas, electric, and telecommunication lines. One of the project’s more complex components involved removing a 66-inch storm sewer 20 feet below a major downtown intersection and installing a new 72-inch storm sewer.

The new hospital, located just south of the existing IU Health Methodist Hospital, is scheduled to open in 2027. This hospital will consolidate the current Methodist Hospital with the existing IU Health University Hospital on IUPUI's campus.
