Indianapolis, Indiana – American Structurepoint, the Walsh/Milestone Joint Venture team, and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) have earned a national award from the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) for the Interstate 69 (I-69) Finish Line Section 6.5 project.

The 2025 Excellence in Concrete Pavement Awards program recognizes the contractors, engineers, and project owners responsible for the country’s most outstanding concrete pavement projects. The I-69 Finish Line project is the sixth and final segment completing the 142-mile corridor between Evansville and Indianapolis, Indiana. The Section 6 Contract 5 project improvements upgraded 5 miles of the existing State Road 37 to interstate standards in Johnson and Marion counties and added lanes to more than 8 miles of I-465 in southwest Marion County.

American Structurepoint served as the lead engineering firm for the Walsh/Milestone Joint Venture Design-Build Team, which partnered on the I-69 Finish Line Section 6.5 project. American Structurepoint, contractor Walsh/Milestone JV, and project owner INDOT received a Silver Award from the ACPA in the Divided Highway (Urban) Category.

Key project elements included:

  • Adding 6 lanes to I-69, 3 in each direction, between Fairview Road and the Southport Road interchange.

  • Adding 8 lanes to I-69, 4 in each direction, between Southport Road and I-465.

  • Designing and building 6 new I-69 interchanges, including a new system interchange with I-465.

  • Replacing or rehabilitating 46 bridges and 168 lane miles of pavement.

  • Constructing 56 new retaining walls.

  • Constructing 15 new sound walls.

American Structurepoint is honored to have partnered with INDOT and an outstanding design-build team to deliver the final section of the I-69 Finish Line project,” said American Structurepoint President Cash Canfield. “This transformative initiative enhances travel and commerce, supports economic growth, and improves the quality of life for the communities we serve.”
