American Structurepoint, City of Green Earn ASHE Project of the Year Award for Massillon Road Roundabouts Project

Columbus, Ohio (October 14, 2025) – American Structurepoint and the City of Green, Ohio, have earned the 2025 American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Great Lakes Region Under $10 Million Project of the Year Award for the Massillon Road Roundabouts project.

American Structurepoint engineers designed two multilane roundabouts to replace traditional signal-controlled intersections at Boettler Road and Corporate Woods Circle/Thorn Drive. This innovative design enhanced driver and pedestrian safety, improved traffic flow, and reduced congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas.

More than 24,000 vehicles travel through this section of Massillon Road each day. American Structurepoint’s traffic analysis revealed that traditional intersection upgrades would have required widening the corridor to nine lanes.  Roundabouts are a proven, safer alternative to traditional road design that reduce the number of severe crashes and encourage slower speeds. The award-winning design also saved $1.2 million in right-of-way, land acquisition, construction, and maintenance costs.

Project enhancements include new sidewalks and crosswalks on both sides of Massillon Road to promote multimodal travel and improved pedestrian connectivity, underground utility duct banks to minimize overhead clutter, and distinctive landscaping that strengthens community identity along the corridor.
