Southern Shores District Plan
Hammond & Whiting, Indiana
Consultants from American Structurepoint led the team to examine redevelopment opportunities in the northwest corner of Indiana. This joint project with the City of Hammond and the City of Whiting helped the community envision its future and provided a detailed road map of how to implement the plan. With new retail and industrial development in the area, the cities sought guidance on how to attract desired development and redevelop the Indianapolis Boulevard corridor while protecting the Robertsdale neighborhood. Public input occured throughout the process to ensure a plan that provided a solution tailored to the community that reflects the community's desires. The urban design project also included the first implementation step of the plan, preparing zoning ordinances and design guidelines regulating future development within the district.
