American Structurepoint Salutes Groundbreaking of New Loeb Stadium

Corporate, Architecture + InteriorsAug 28, 2019

American Structurepoint proudly partnered with the City of Lafayette for a Tuesday afternoon groundbreaking that will transform the historic Loeb Stadium into a new, state-of-the-art, multi-use facility.

American Structurepoint is providing architectural services for the new $20 million municipally owned Loeb Stadium now under construction. The design takes its inspiration from the stadium’s original 1940s-era Art Deco architecture by using architectural precast concrete colonnade, traditional brick facades, and exposed structural steel.

“It’s very gratifying to be a part of something that Lafayette’s residents and visitors will enjoy for generations to come." - American Structurepoint Senior Project Architect Dan McCloskey

Our design rotates the existing field 180 degrees to a preferred northeast orientation, moving home plate to the current center field area. The new design also lowers the playing field by 7 feet to provide a clear line of sight to the entire field of play no matter where a spectator sits. It also shifts the stadium’s main entrance to the corner of Main and Wallace streets.

Scheduled for completion in December 2020, the new Loeb Stadium will offer seating for 2,500 guests. This includes 1,900 chair-backed seats in the lower bowl with additional grass seating along the third baseline and behind the left-field wall. The upper level features three enclosed suites, three open-air party decks with associated seating, stadium control, radio booths and a media area. A synthetic turf maximizes the amount of times the field can used. The City of Lafayette envisions using the stadium for soccer games/tournaments, football, concerts and other events year round.

“It is an honor for American Structurepoint to design this magnificent facility,” said Dan McCloskey, Loeb Stadium senior project architect. “It’s very gratifying to be a part of something that Lafayette’s residents and visitors will enjoy for generations to come.”
