Indianapolis Business Journal has named American Structurepoint, Inc., the No. 1 largest engineering firm in the Indianapolis area. Ranked by 2010 local engineering billings, the firm jumped from the second spot in 2010 to the top of the list in 2011.
With a total of 130 licensed professionals among the firm’s 10 multi-disciplines, American Structurepoint received $45.5 million in engineering billings, the majority of its 2010 overall $52.6 million billings. One of the firm’s most notable recent architectural, civil and structural engineering projects includes work on the Indiana National Guard Operational Readiness Training Center Complex in Camp Atterbury, Edinburgh, Indiana, for which American Structurepoint is the lead designer.
The 1,450-person complex consists of eight 2-story barracks buildings housing 1,200 soldiers, two bachelors’ officer’s quarters holding 160 officers, and a 19,000-square feet dining facility. The design includes planning considerations for future battalion and company headquarters, as well as extensive anti-terrorism force protection requirements. Each building on this complex anticipates a LEED® Silver Certification. The construction cost estimate for both Complex No. 1 and 2 is $52 million, with construction estimated to begin in 2012.
