Jefferson County Courthouse Restoration

This investigative engineering project involved the assessment, repair, and addition to a 150-year-old historic courthouse that was devastated by a fire, which destroyed the roof and portions of the third floor. The fire and water damage affected the entire building, including the county courtroom, staff offices, legislative offices, judicial staff, and law enforcement spaces. The repair design included complete reconstruction of the wood roof framing and trusses, replacement of the roofing, cornice, and dentil molding, and partial reconstruction of load-bearing masonry walls. Additionally, repairs to interior wood framing and masonry below the roofline were necessary to address water damage and other fire-related deterioration. The project also involved the restoration of the exterior façade, roof, cupola, and interior courtrooms and offices, along with a new relocated elevator addition. American Structurepoint leveraged its extensive experience in insurance-related losses to assist the County in the claims process.
