Traffic Signal Retiming in Valparaiso, Indiana

This project optimized timing plans for Valparaiso’s traffic signal network. Among the 33 signalized intersections, there are three interconnected coordinated signal systems. Timing plans were designed to maximize efficiency of the isolated intersection or coordinated system where applicable, accounting for appropriate pedestrian crosswalk times. Traffic counts were collected. American Structurepoint assisted the City in uploading the timing programs to the traffic signal controllers as well as providing a database of finalized timing plans and providing monitoring and fine-tuning of timing after initial implementation.
