Porter County Administration Center Plaza
American Structurepoint provided architectural, structural, civil, and landscape architectural design services to redesign a plaza/front entrance at the Porter County Administration Center in Valparaiso, Indiana to include green space, trees, new ADA parking, and a sloped ADA-compliant ramp.
The nearly $1 million project included a graded, heated ADA-compliant ramp that replaced various levels of concrete platforms and steps leading to the administration center’s front door. The design also included green space, decorative lighting, raised planters that can be used for seating, and a stormwater collection system for the greenery.
Our landscape architects know how to design an outdoor space that feels like a continuation of the building it accompanies. Based on discussions with the client, the Porter County’s Courthouse and Government Annex Building was designed with all users in mind. Our architects and landscape architects considered universal design principles, which means ADA access was holistically considered from beginning to end. In addition to universal design, cost control was another driving factor for the project. Our experienced landscape architecture team carefully selected materials enhancing the aesthetic and/or sensory experience of the building and outdoor spaces. With our team’s vision, we delivered outdoor zones for employees to eat their lunch or take a break and for the public to host small community events.
