Montgomery County Jail
This correctional facility provides areas to house work-release residents, trustees, and both medium- and maximum-security inmates and includes administrative and investigative offices for the sheriff's department. The 2-story, $11.8 million facility provides a total of 212 beds for housing and 12 holding cells in the intake and medical areas.
The structural system consists of steel deck on steel bar joists supported by steel beams, columns, and load-bearing masonry. The locations of controls and secure and non-secure areas were successfully arranged in a way that allows for excellent circulation and containment. A steel security ceiling or an 8"-thick, hollow-core precast concrete plank roof system bearing on reinforced masonry walls was provided for secure areas of the building. The project also included the construction of a dry detention pond at the west side of the site, as well as 550 feet of water main and 2,100 feet of sanitary sewer.
