I-69 Finish Line, Section 4 Construction Inspection

American Structurepoint provided construction inspection services for a portion of the I-69 Finish Line project, which consisted of upgrading more than 26 miles of State Road 37 to interstate standards from Martinsville in Morgan County to Marion County in Indianapolis. The upgraded interstate will help traffic flow better and improve safety. Improvements along I-69 included removing 14 traffic lights and at grade intersections, which will help reduce vehicle crashes.

American Structurepoint’s nine-member construction inspection team, serving as a subconsultant to the Carradino Group, worked on the section beginning one mile north of State Road 44 in Morgan County to Fairview Road in Johnson County. American Structurepoint’s certified inspectors were on site to help ensure the project’s success and confirm that construction proceeded as planned—on time, on budget, and in compliance with all Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards.

The team made tremendous strides throughout the project. In one notable milestone last month, a massive amount of concrete was poured for the future SR 144 bridge over I-69 in Johnson County. This milestone was significant due to the bridge deck’s approximately 90-foot width and the inclusion of a concrete median curb. Crews worked overnight to complete the pour using two machines—one of the first times this approach had been required in Indiana.

When completed in 2024, the project would allow continuous travel on I-69 from the Canadian border at Port Huron, Michigan, to Evansville, Indiana.
