Weinheimer Chosen to Lead State Board of Registration for Architects
Architecture + InteriorsSep 30, 2011Senior Architectural Manager Dan Weinheimer, AIA, NCARB, of American Structurepoint, Inc., has been elected as the Board Chair of the State Board of Registration for Architects and Landscape Architects, a part of the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency. The Board implements the licensure, continuing education, and administrative rules for architects and landscape architects throughout the state of Indiana. Weinheimer will serve as Board Chair for the next 12 months.
“This is a vote of confidence from my colleagues,” Weinheimer said. “I find it to be quite an honor. I am really looking forward to furthering my involvement with the Board and serving with the other members.”
I think it speaks to where our Architectural Group is going. To be chosen by Central Indiana professionals means a lot to me personally and says a lot about our firm.
Weinheimer was first chosen to serve on the Board on June 11, 2008, by Governor Mitch Daniels. Now as Board Chair, one of Weinheimer’s first duties will be to give a presentation to the Regulatory Occupational Evaluation Committee, which was formed by the state legislature to offer advice on future occupational regulation in the state. His presentation will center on the service the Board offers to professionals and its importance to the state of Indiana.
“When I first was selected to serve on the Board, it was a very nice accomplishment,” Weinheimer said. “Now I have an opportunity for more involvement with other state registration boards and to represent the state of Indiana regionally and nationally. I am also looking forward to creating goals for our Board that improve the registration process for architects and landscape architects.”
A 1983 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Weinheimer joined American Structurepoint in 2003. He is registered as a professional architect in 28 states and is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He ranks as American Structurepoint’s first architect to be named Board Chair of a state registration board.
“I think it speaks to where our Architectural Group is going. To be chosen by Central Indiana professionals means a lot to me personally and says a lot about our firm,” Weinheimer said.
