Interstate 65 Added Travel Lanes Project in Boone County Receives Concrete Pavement Award

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), E&B Paving, and American Structurepoint have earned an award from the Indiana Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) for innovative pavement design and installation for the Interstate 65 Added Travel Lanes project in Boone County, Indiana.
The I-65 project team received a 2024 Indiana Excellence in Concrete Pavement Award in the Divided Highways (Rural) category. American Structurepoint was the design engineer for the project, and E&B Paving, LLC was the contractor. INDOT is the project owner.
American Structurepoint provided engineering design services for the project that added one travel lane in each direction along a 6-mile stretch of I-65 in Boone County from north of SR 32 to north of SR 47. Our team also designed bridge improvements at the Prairie Creek crossing.
American Structurepoint ‘s engineering experts also collaborated with INDOT to test new pavement sections to see how different sealant treatments and sub-bases function over time. Our engineers designed four innovative pavement sections with INDOT.
Using the latest testing technology, INDOT will receive data over several months to see how each pavement material performs and how roadway drainage can be improved by using innovative pavement designs.
“American Structurepoint is honored to be part of a project team working to develop better types of pavements that will extend a roadway’s service life, require less maintenance, and provide travelers with safer, more efficient roadways,” said American Structurepoint Team Leader Ken Olson, project manager for the I-65 Added Travel Lanes project.
