Construction Scheduled for Roundabout at Intersection of Ironwood and Auten Roads

GRANGER, IND.—Construction is set to begin on the new roundabout at the intersection of Ironwood Road and Auten Road in Granger, St. Joseph County, Ind., as scheduled by the Indiana Department of Transportation and the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners. The intersection will close beginning on April 1, 2013, with construction by Selge Construction Co., Inc., expected to reach completion by mid-to late- August 2013.

Engineering consultants American Structurepoint of South Bend, Ind., will provide the construction inspection services for this project. The team will be led by Project Manager Justin Sherman.

The St. Joseph County project involves the reconstruction of Ironwood Road and Auten Road with a roundabout and will include installation of new landscaping, curb and gutter, storm sewers, pavement markings, signage, and roadway lighting. In addition, telephone and electric utilities will be relocated.

The maintenance of traffic for this busy intersection will be accomplished through a complete closure of the intersection. The posted detour route will utilize Hickory Road to Cleveland Road to the east and State Line Road to SR 933 to the west.
