American Structurepoint and Allen County have earned a national award from the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) for using an innovative pavement additive for the Bass Road Reconstruction project that spanned from Hillegas Road to Clifty Parkway in Allen County, Indiana.

The Bass Road project team received a Gold Award in the County Roads Category in the 34th Annual “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” awards. The national awards program recognizes quality concrete pavements constructed in the United States and Canada, encouraging high-quality workmanship, quality and creativity in concrete pavement construction and rehabilitation.

“American Structurepoint is honored to have been a part of the project team pioneering a groundbreaking pavement method that will provide travelers with safer, more efficient roadways,” - American Structurepoint Project Manager

American Structurepoint was the design engineer for the project, and Milestone Contractors, LP was the contractor. American Structurepoint engineers and the Allen County Highway Department obtained approval to use liquid fly ash in this pavement project funded by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for the first time.

Liquid fly ash enhances the durability, permeability and overall quality of the concrete while reducing the amount of cement used to pave roads. This new material ultimately leads to construction cost savings. INDOT is now using more liquid fly ash mix statewide based on the results of this project.

“American Structurepoint is honored to have been a part of the project team pioneering a groundbreaking pavement method that will provide travelers with safer, more efficient roadways,” said American Structurepoint Team Leader Scott Crites, the Bass Road project manager.
