Greg Henneke, PE

Senior Executive Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer

Under Greg’s leadership, American Structurepoint has become one of the most prominent engineering and architecture firms in the state of Indiana. During his tenure as executive vice president, the firm has seen the company more than double in size. It has also become the preeminent transportation engineering firm based in Indiana. Significant jobs include large, complex, and fast-tracked projects for the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Accomplishments of note have included Greg’s innovative financing for the 56th Street widening project in Lawrence, Indiana, with a compressed schedule; his leadership of the record-breaking LPA design and construction schedule and the extensive coordination with Norfolk Southern Railroad that produced the Indiana Avenue Underpass project in Elkhart, Indiana; and his impact on the I-65/70 Market Street interchange modification for the City of Indianapolis, Indiana, which has improved traffic flow in the downtown area. Most notable, however, is Greg’s role as program manager for the $700 million Indianapolis Department of Public Works (IDPW) RebuildIndy campaign, for which he oversaw the renovation and revitalization of the City’s infrastructure. Most recently, Greg oversaw the winning pursuit of and leadership for IDPW’s multiyear stormwater program management contract that produces a $40 million per year capital improvement program.

Greg’s broad knowledge and background in engineering, management, budgeting, and finance, as well as his extensive experience with INDOT and IDPW, have given him a great deal of empathy and insight into the needs of public agencies. As division chief of INDOT’s Design Division from 1989 to 1992, Greg managed a division of 230 people involved in all aspects of highway, bridge, and traffic design. From 1995 to 1997, as director of IDPW, Greg led 750 union and non-union personnel under a combined annual capital budget of $80 million, overseeing departments involved in all aspects of engineering, capital improvements, and maintenance of the city/county transportation, wastewater, and drainage infrastructure, as well as solid waste operations and environmental resource management.

Greg has received several industry honors throughout his career, the most recent achieving Fellow status with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) in 2021. Just 3% of ASCE members receive this honor. In 2013, he was named the Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year by the Indiana Chapter of ASCE.

Greg’s technical knowledge, married with his problem-solving abilities and extensive interpersonal contact with leaders in the state of Indiana, its communities, as well as the infrastructure industry makes him a valuable asset to any project. He’s also an excellent resource for cities and counties who are trying to obtain state and federal funding for their transportation projects, as well as an active member of the professional community.

Greg is readily available to assist you with any of your project funding needs. He will help you successfully launch and complete your project through his deep understanding of state, local and federal-aid laws and regulations. His close relationships within the greater Indiana community can ensure the timeliness and cost effectiveness of your project. Greg will listen to you and help you create solutions. He’ll also make sure the right team of people will make your vision reality.
