Community Revitalization and Community Transformation - Speedway, Indiana
Speedway, Indiana
The Town of Speedway, home to The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indy 500, has for the past 112 years annually hosted the most famous auto-race in the world. In the early 2000s, the Town desired to reimagine and reinvigorate Speedway’s major thoroughfares. American Structurepoint was first engaged to complete a comprehensive redevelopment master plan, and in the decade following, we have assisted Speedway in implementing each phase of the plan. We designed “complete streets” concepts for corridors, multi-lane roundabout intersection improvements, and planned and redeveloped a 40-acre site with concepts to renovate an obsolete strip retail development. These public infrastructure improvements have generated over $400 million in redevelopment, including several new mixed-use downtown buildings along Main Street.
