Ball State University Greek Village Sorority Housing Complex
Muncie, Indiana
American Structurepoint provided the architecture, civil, and structural engineering services necessary to design this estimated $20.6 million sorority housing complex. The 111,015-sft housing complex was designed to contain more than 280 beds. Ball State has been without proper sorority housing for its entire history, so the Greek Village Sorority Housing design represented a whole new project type on campus. The American Structurepoint team worked tirelessly with BSU officials to identify their needs, refine their program, reconcile their budget with their wishes, and design a campus building complex that was simultaneously an extension of the University and yet not “institutional” in appearance.
The resulting design will house 10 sorority chapters in three buildings in order to efficiently use a compact site and allow sharing of infrastructure expenses between chapters. The compact building footprint also allows for large shared and private outdoor amenity spaces to become the fabric that knits the village. together.
