Another example of how public projects can help spur economic improvements of a community was this new 4-mile, 4-lane divided suburban arterial highway between US Highway 20 and US.Highway 23. A second phase creating a new four-mile transportation corridor from County Road 38 to U.S. Highway 33 was also designed by American Structurepoint. Design engineers were able to save Elkhart County $5 million by reducing the length of a bridge, as a result of a detailed hydraulic analysis of the river crossing.
