This federal LPA project involved reconstruction of Interchange 111 on I-65/I-70 at Washington Street in downtown Indianapolis. Additional work included reconstruction of neighboring streets, which include Washington Street, Southeastern Avenue, Market Street, Pine Street, Davidson Street, and Shelby Street. The new interstate access point is a modified split (half) diamond interchange at Washington Street. Three ramps were removed by the project: northbound and southbound Market Street ramps and the Ohio Street southbound entrance ramp. The scope of work included utility coordination, subsurface utility engineering, geotechnical, land acquisition, context-sensitive solutions, communications, interchange lighting and signing, railroad coordination, and existing building condition surveys. Land acquisition for 19 parcels was completed in 14 months with condemnation awards within 28 months.
