American Structurepoint used the design/build method for the first phase of this highly automated automotive component manufacturing facility, which produces spider components for universal joints. The facility was 45,000 sft in size, 6,500 sft of office space and 38,500 sft of manufacturing plant space, with future expansion capabilities in two directions. Situated on a 40-acre tract, the facility features a 55-foot high bay, heavy press foundations and pits, three overhead cranes, removable wall panels, and interior truck docks. The floor was treated with a metallic shake-on hardener. Addition I added 40,000 sft to the original building to incorporate highly automated camshaft assembly lines and additional office space. Addition II was a 45,000-sft addition to the original facility for additional assembly operations. For the additions that have taken place over the years, American Structurepoint has provided structural and investigative reviews of building components.
