Due to its heavy use by Purdue University students and faculty, CityBus has one of the highest riderships in the state. This study documented the impact of moving the CityBus transfer facility from its current location to a new one in downtown Lafayette. In addition to the relocation of the transfer facility, the study also documented the impact of redeveloping two city blocks with a transit-oriented, mixed-use development. Traffic counts were performed in the vicinity of the existing transfer facility and proposed redevelopment area. An existing land-use survey was performed, and the ITE Trip Generation Report was used to determine the trips generated by existing and proposed land uses. The difference between the proposed and existing traffic was assigned to the study area roadways. A capacity analysis was performed on eight study intersections along Third and Fourth Streets, which is a major north-south, one-way pair arterial in downtown Lafayette.
