The Battery Innovation Center's (BIC) design reflects the advanced technology produced at this facility and creates an anchor from which a growing industrial park can develop an architectural language. The architecture is low maintenance, flexible, and energy efficient to support the ideas that are important to the BIC. Ultimately, the strength of the building design, the common vocabulary of materials, and the proposed volumes of space accomplish the design and operational objectives set forth by the BIC.

This 40,000-sft building is positioned in such a way that a 25,000-sft addition can easily be added to the lab area without interruption to day to day operations. It was important this $12 million ($8 million construction, $4 million equipment), state-of-the-art building addresses all functional demands now and into the future. Therefore, the building's site location allows sufficient adjoining area that will support an additional 100,000-sft facility.
