Part of a plan to improve the SR 161/SR 37 corridor between New Albany and Granville, this $62 million project will relocate 5.93 miles of rural highway and 7.6 miles of additional frontage roads to upgrade the two-lane facility to a four-lane divided highway, increasing capacity and improving safety for this major corridor. It includes design of eight bridges, one interchange, and five intersections on the frontage roads. During the course of the project, American Structurepoint developed a comprehensive procedure to analyze stormwater quality and select appropriate Best Management Practices (BMPs). This procedure allowed the project to become the first major project to obtain Central Office approval with the new stormwater quality requirements. Design of 2,200' of natural stream relocation and extensive flood plan studies were part of this project, including coordination with local flood plan agencies to obtain approval of the project design. American Structurepoint managed a team of subconsultants and worked closely with District 5 to coordinate the west tie to the Phase I project. American Structurepoint consistently made submittals ahead of schedule and submitted Stage 3 plans two and one-half months ahead of schedule.
