This project will realign and widen Kauffman Avenue between Wright Brothers Parkway and National Road. The project will also widen Kauffman Avenue from west of McClellan Drive to west of Zink Road, providing for a designated eastbound right-turn lane and a designated westbound left-turn lane at the intersection of McClellan Drive and also at the intersection of Shields Lane. Underdrains will be added on the project where needed, and a new storm sewer system will be designed to divert water to the existing ditch crossing. The project also included the preparation of a Section 4(f) Environmental Document.  Special precautions will be taken to minimize the amount of right-of-way needed to complete the project, as well as close coordination with Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Efforts will be made to ensure construction of the roadway will not disturb the newly constructed bike path along Kauffman Avenue.  The scope of services for the project included roadway and drainage design, right-of-way plan development, signing, lighting, maintenance of traffic, and the design of a junction chamber to connect two existing culverts.
