This project realigned 1,200' of Stillwell-Beckett Road and 600' of Wood Station Road at their intersection. The project also included the complete relocation of the intersection to provide a continuous through movement on Stillwell-Beckett Road and the addition of a left-turn lane on Stillwell-Beckett Road. The project also included several improvements for the intersection of Wood Station Road and North Pierson Road. Numerous drainage improvements were incorporated into the project: underdrains were added throughout the project; a new storm sewer system was designed to divert water away from the residents in the area; a new 48" x 76" culvert was designed to replace the existing 42" x 48"; and the grading and open-cut ditches were also updated. Effort was put into minimizing the number of trees removed to maintain the existing landscape features as much as possible. Right-of-way plans for this project minimized the amount of right-of-way to be purchased, saving time and effort and reducing cost. This project was the recipient of the Donald C. Schramm Transportation Improvement Award in 2006 from the American Society of Highway Engineers, Triko Valley Section.
