This project included over 2,000’ of pavement reconstruction and widening of Avery Road from two to four lanes, including a 2-lane roundabout at Tuswell Drive and Innovation Drive, all on a fast-track schedule.  The design of the 180’-diameter roundabout included four legs, four splitter islands, turning radius analysis, and a 10’ truck apron.  American Structurepoint also replaced Avery Road’s existing open drainage system with a closed system consisting of 1,850’ of storm sewer lines and catch basins.  The typical section of Avery Road included an 18’ median.  The project also included the design of a 3,415’ bike path and 1,725’ of concrete walk.  Design work included landscaping, lighting, horizontal and vertical alignment, water line relocation, maintenance of traffic, traffic control, BMP design, right-of-way, and utility coordination.
