This project consists of over 2,500' of roadway widening and improvements to the intersection of SR 91 with US 224, including extension of the left- and right-turn lanes on two legs of the intersection and improvement of the right-turn radii on two corners of the intersection. The existing high-traffic volume, urban intersection includes five to six lanes on each leg and will require seven to eight lanes to accommodate future traffic flows. The land use adjacent to the intersection is characterized by commercial development, including fast food restaurants, two gas service stations, strip shopping malls, and other commercial businesses. The project included access management to decrease driveway widths and increasing spacing between drive cuts, modifications to the existing traffic signal, drainage design and right-of-way plans for over 30 owners and 40 parcels of land. The scope of work includes engineering services to complete the ODOT Preliminary Development Process and the final design for the project. The first phase of the project included preparation of a preliminary engineering study, Categorical Exclusion (CE) Document, environmental Phase I ESA, and cultural resource investigations. The final study identified and analyzed five alternatives and a no-build option, with preliminary cost estimates for all alternatives.  This study compiled and analyzed ODOT-certified traffic data to determine the opening day and design year levels of services (LOS) for the intersection of S.R. 91 and U.S. 224  American Structurepoint compared LOS results to assist in selecting the recommended intersection design alternative.
