The impact of construction of this project will be felt for years.  Many new residential and retail developments were made possible by this project, by creating access to previously remote locations in Lafayette, Indiana.  A twin 12-span vehicular bridge crosses the Wabash River, supported by specially designed piers taking in to consideration the river’s impacts of scour and overload ratings for off-road haul trucks.

Two railroad bridges and a grade separation structure were also designed to further improve traffic flow.  The bridge construction led to the necessity to produce a 47-acre wetland mitigation area to replace wetlands lost in the process.
