This project designed two bike paths/pedestrian tunnels to provide safe crossing for pedestrians, cyclists, school children, and park patrons on a fast-track design schedule. The project included reconstruction of 1,050' of roadway (Dublin Road/River Forest Road) and 75' of roadway (Brand Road) and construction of a bike tunnel/pedestrian underpasses beneath both Dublin Road and Brand Road. The bike path/pedestrian tunnels were constructed using 12' x 9' ConSpan structures. The project also included the relocation of 112’ of 16” (Brand Road) and 145’ of 12” (Dublin Road) water line. Design work included horizontal and vertical alignment, landscaping, drainage analysis, ConSpan structure design, pump station design, tunnel lighting, traffic control, water and gas line relocation design, erosion and sedimentation control, tree preservation, and utility coordination.
