The north campus will consist of a new core hospital, heart institute, and renovations to the existing hospital’s women’s and children’s unit. The new center will consist of approximately 950,000 sft of building construction, including 50,000 sft of structured parking underneath the hospital; a new central plant; and a loading dock with tunnel. Adjacent to this hospital expansion are a number of roadways in need of construction, improvements, and widening, which will result in the addition of approximately 3.7 additional lane miles of new and approximately 3.3 lane miles of improved roadway. The design, coordination, and construction of these roadways required extensive coordination with Parkview Hospital; the general contractor; the Allen County Highway Department; Allen County Surveyor’s office; INDOT; and multiple utility companies, including the AEP transmission line division. The project is expected to open in early 2012.
